Golowan Festival

In June 06 Caroline made a giant caterpillar with pupils of Gulval School for Penzance's annual Mazey Day celebrations. Mazey Day is the culmination of the 2 week long Golowan Festival. School children throughout West Penwith work with an artist to create a sculpture or puppet that is carried through the town during the Mazey Day parades. The sculptures are usually constructed from withies covered with tissue paper. Each year there is a specific theme for the parades but it is always open to wide interpretation. Caroline worked with year 6 pupils from Gulval School, and with help from staff and parents, created a giant caterpillar.
